The 3 Laughable's

Lately, I have noticed that there are like three things that I LOVE!!! When I say lately, I mean literally I just thought of them like five seconds ago but hey. All three have actually happened this week-though it is only Monday-does that mean they happened last week?! Anyway, these are all little pieces of magic that I am sharing to help me feel more blessed. After all, if you can't find joy in the little things then when you will you have time to laugh? Life is for working and bettering yourself, but it's for fun too. Note to self: remember to smile during the work.
Now, onto the fun stuff. The first laughable actually happened last night and I literally spent like seven minutes on my kitchen floor laughing out loud at myself. My roommate-let's call her 'The Writer'-and I decided to make cookies around approximately 12:30 a.m. I'll be honest I am a night owl as much as the next person, but I was just NOT thinking clearly. The directions said to soften the butter right? Well what did I do? Oh ya... I put the butter in the microwave. . . in the foil metal wrapper thing. FREAKING HILARIOUS!
It would be a lie to say I'm the one who caught my own mistake-though it would probably less embarrassing if I did. I was talking to 'The Writer' when 'The Diva' (yet another roommate, yes there are nine!) walked in and started screaming. She pointed at the microwave and said, "something's on fire!" So I turned around and what do you know...real flames! Talk about impressive-even for me. I opened the microwave and pulled out the butter. . . with my bare hand (such a good idea ;) ). By the time the fire was out I just felt silly. Did I honestly do that?
My roommates just started laughing and we rolled on the ground with laughter for a good ten minutes. Needless to say, the butter was definitely soft. The cookies turned out great, but I still had to smile when the next morning I heard someone say, "What the heck happened to the microwave?" Clearly, I didn't volunteer any information. The moral of the story is: if you need softened butter, maybe just use a bowl or go straight for the spreadable. Also I would think that melting butter at a reasonable hour might help your logic and reasoning skills dominate your incompetence.
The second laughable happened on Friday. I know after the first story you can only imagine what is following, but wait for it. . . I became an indian princess! Obviously this is an enormous exaggeration, but I like to think its partly true. No, actually I just got a super sweet indian, colored braid in my hair. It's like six colors and its wrapped around one little section of my hair. This makes me incredibly happy for some reason. It's freaking sweet!!! My volleyball friend 'Big K' is like amazing and really handy with all things string, so naturally I made her share her talent.
Now, I'll be honest I did feel like it was a little obnoxious for church; but, hey a girl's gotta live! It makes me much happier than I should be probably but come on-it's legit. You can wash it, curl it, braid it...the possibilities are endless~so much fun. I also learned how to make sweet bracelets so I made a couple of those and they also make me smile. I guess this isn't a funny story as much as just a funny thing to me. I don't ever do things like this and I just feel extremely proud of my branching out! I feel like freaking Pocahontas.
Lastly, I have come to really LOVE Snow College FHE (Family Home Evening). Every Monday night a group of three apartments gets together and does an activity. We are all in college here so let's be blunt...it's not fantastic or elaborate-it's just fun. Pretty much it involves hanging out, talking, and sharing a few spiritual thoughts. I like the break but what I honestly love is the amount of free dinners that I get out of it. Come on...talk about a real benefit. It's amazing how many people are willing to feed you if you tell them you need an activity for FHE. PRICELESS! :)
Also, there is a boy...yes always a boy. Not an actual we have a relationship or we even talk kind of relationship. It's more like I watch him smile...my heart melts...he winks...I dissolve-that kind of thing. You all know the kind of boy I am referring to: the boy who God puts in your life solely for eye candy. He is truly the most beautiful man I have ever seen! His smile just makes me go weak in the knees. A completely ridiculous notion; but, true nonetheless. It's so cliche I know but the point is he is amazing and I love him (I so don't mean I'm being a creepy stalker FYI...although if you had to stock someone he would NOT be a poor choice).
Anyway, this boy 'Sir Smile a Lot' changes everything. Really...seeing him makes my whole day better. His voice is enough to change any mood I'm in. I love that he is in our FHE group-though it's completely lucky and random. He has made my experience anything but awful. The funny thing is, he will probably never know how much he does for me. I'm sure he has no idea. Mostly because I'm positive he knows the effect he has on girls and he knows his smile can save him from anything. I don't think he deals with girls individually as much as holistically. Girls are a little bit expendable to him.
This is a little sad but true. What do I care though?! I get to see him, talk to him occasionally, and look at him every Monday night. Thank heavens for FHE. Anyway, these three things have made me happier: my melted microwave, my Pocahontas bracelets and hair, and as always 'Sir Smile a Lot'. I am loving how much joy I am finding in the little things. Its nice to be reminded of the fun things every now and then. I sincerely hope this made you smile, because we both know it certainly did for me! :)
