Apartment 8

I live in the Snow Lodge Apartments-as I have both years at Snow College. Last year I lived in Apartment number five and this year I live in number eight. There are only twelve apartments in our complex, so everyone here is pretty close. I love how nice and fun everyone is. Living here is like living in one big house. You pretty much have unlimited access to every room. People come in and out all the time and everyone knows everyone. It's a much more personal place to live than probably almost any other place at Snow College. Snow Lodge has been the greatest experience and it has helped me grow spiritually and as a person a lot.
Some people look at Snow Lodge as cheap (which technically speaking it is cheap but when is it a bad thing to save money in college?!) but I love it. Honestly is it worth it to pay eight-hundred extra dollars so that I have a few less roommates? I think not. I have nine roommates-and I have loved every second of it. First semester I had a rough time adjusting but my roommates were awesome! :) We always have a lot of fun and talk, and dance, and laugh, and EAT! This semester I got three new roommates and lost one...so I guess in a way this year I have had twelve roommates and it has been a real experience getting to know each and every one.
My room roommate is the single kindest and best example I have ever known. She is always doing service, helping out, and ready with a compliment. Throughout the year she has left me a lot of cute little notes on my desk or written on our mirror words of encouragement and it really has helped me a lot. She has really carried me this semester. Also, she is ridiculously talented! Honestly she can do anything she wants. She picks up a paintbrush and paints a masterpiece...grabs a pencil and draws a picture so detailed you just stop and stare. This girl is gifted. That's why I refer to her as 'The Girl From The 1800's.' This probably makes no sense to you but it does to me. Girls in the 1800's could do everything...draw, sing, paint....that's my roommate exactly.
Next, there is 'The Writer.' I briefly mentioned her in my last blog entry, but let me take a minute and explain the name. She has a missionary that she is completely, absolutely, one-hundred percent, irrevocably in love with. She is freaking legit when it comes to writing him. A huge long letter every week, and she spoils him on holidays with packages. She is always printing off pictures to send and talks about him constantly. I really feel like I know him. This girl has become a great friend! She loves to dance and laugh and watch movies. We have gotten really close and I wouldn't be the same without her. We have late night happy hours and talk about our lives. She always helps me see the world as beautiful and interesting. She is the single most animated person I have ever met and always keeps our apartment lively. I could go on...I will later.
Her room roommate is 'The Diva.' She is the definition of a theatre girl. She does it all: dance, sing,  and act. Plus she looks like she stepped out of a magazine at any given time. She is the queen of make up and hair and knows more about wardrobe then the lion or the witch. She is incredibly talented and beautiful. She is super outgoing and makes you feel important. Her life revolves around serving other people and though she is really busy, she always has time for a quick makeover and helps everyone feel pretty. She is a great listener and her soft voice can soothe me on the worst days. She gives great hugs and always has a piece of chocolate ready for the worst days. She is the rhythm in our apartment.
Next, there is 'Love Bug' and 'The Player.' These two crazy girls live in a room together and they are both completely one-hundred percent BOY CRAZY!!! 'Love Bug' just got engaged and spends approximately ninety percent of everyday on the phone with her fiancee. She is perfectly content with one prince and her happily ever after. She is so happy. It's fun to see someone who still believes in fairy-tales. 'The Player' on the other hand likes a challenge. I would be lying if I said I didn't call her fan club her victims. She likes to prove that she can get the guy and when the challenge is over, she is gone. It's amazing to me. She has had at least three HOT boys that she could have dated but she just wanted to love em' and leave em.' This girl is a pro. They are a little opposite but always entertaining and both have boys in our apartment all the time! Not a bad perk.
My next roommate 'Short Stuff' recently got married. I do feel like her husband was one of our roommates long ago but hey, now they are really gone.  She is really happy. They still come over sometimes but it's nice that they aren't taking up our couch anymore. Her roommate 'Britt-Brac' moved in this semester. She is a really sweet and cute girl. She has a super sweet smile and makes me laugh. She is really passionate and kind. I have really liked getting to know her this semester.
The last room in our apartment holds two beautiful girls: 'Teddy' and 'Miss Devious.' 'Teddy' is seriously so cute :) She reminds me of a little teddy bear. She has the absolute most innocent little voice and asks the most precious questions. A little naive? Yes but that's what makes it fun. She is really awesome. 'Miss Devious' just has one of those faces that looks positively guilty at all times. She is the most random person I have ever met. She has one of those voices that makes you want to smile and she is just fun to be around. She also sings really well. Both girls just moved in this semester but I have still grown to love them!
I suppose it would only be fair to include my roommates that moved out from last semester because I did love them too and they deserve a little time in the spotlight. There were three of them. One moved out and got married ('Harmony'), one left to go on an LDS mission ('Luna'), and the other moved to different housing ('Thunder'). It's fair to say that our apartment from first semester was an extremely different atmosphere from last semester. No semester was better than the other, they were just different.
'Harmony' is the single most musically talented person I have ever met. She has the voice of an angel and can harmonize with any song. She sings beautifully and is really pretty too. I call her 'Harmony' because she really brought a beautiful tone of music into our home and into my life. She made me love and really appreciate the beat to my own life. She just created peace in my heart. I love this girl. I miss her a lot. Currently, she has been married about three months and yep...you guessed it the girl is prego. Talk about unexpected. She is going to have a baby!! It's both exciting and scary for her but mostly funny to us who still live in number eight.
'Luna' was a lot like 'Harmony.' They really fed off of each other and when they sang together I just wanted everything and everyone to be quiet and listen. So incredibly TALENTED, the girls who live in this apartment. 'Luna' has this amazing unique rhythm to her life and her personality. She is the only color in our apartment but her afro was beautiful. The girl has her own style and approach to life. She is different then most people you will ever meet. She is also an incredible artist. She can paint and draw anything she sees. The artist inside her always shines through...she is truly fantastic. She has the ability to touch people in a way most can't.  I miss her.
Last but not least, there is 'Thunder'. This girl is a little crazy but if anything, she is committed to her faith. Her faith has carried her through a lot and though we don't agree on everything, I admire her inner strength. She recognizes the Lord's hand in her life and helps you feel grateful. She is of a different faith then the rest of us nine girls, but she still prayed with us every night. It was interesting to learn a lot about her and her religion. She is a lot of fun and has a laugh that is contagious. I have no doubt that she was placed in my life for a reason.
Needless to say, these people have really helped form a lot of who I am today. I just wouldn't be the same without them-and neither would Snow College. I am so grateful for the experiences and personalities that have been put into my life at this time. I sure am lucky to know so many talented and amazing girls. They encourage, inspire, and help me more than words can ever say. If I could ever do anything, it would be to pay tribute to my angels...to say thank you. They might not know it, but every single one has impacted my life and my thought process for the better. I have found the positive by being around them. I know Snow Lodge number eight is EXACTLY where I was supposed to be this year.  Funny how things work out! :)
