'Dubb', 'Hick', and 'Adventure Girl'

I feel like people come in and out of my life for a reason. Each person teaches me something new or helps me in a various way. There are three pretty remarkable people that I need to talk about. These weren't my roommates this year, but they may as well have been. These three girls changed everything for me-for the better. These are three of the best friends I have EVER had :) They have all become my sisters in different ways and I will always be so grateful for each one of them! So, let's begin.
'Dubb' is first, and she actually was my room roommate last year at Snow College. This year she goes to Utah State and she is currently engaged (a big plus for me because she will be moving to Ogden after she gets hitched!). 'Dubb' is a special person. We have a very unique relationship and we have been through an awful lot together in just a short period of time. We got really close last year and we spent a lot of time together. Our room was a haven for me personally. She is a really fun person to talk to, makes the absolute BEST breadsticks, is a master beautician, and was one of the best missionary girlfriends I have ever seen. She is a really dedicated and motivated individual. 'Dubb' can ALWAYS make you laugh when you want to cry, and she never says no to a chick flick and food.
We did a lot of crazy things together. My favorite was when we would go to the Noyes Building at like midnight and watch movies all night on the projector. One time she told a janitor we had to watch Grey's Anatomy for a health class! Priceless. We spent a lot of time in our room talking, watching movies, coloring-yes!, and just sharing our lives. Even though I don't get to see her very much, she is a friend I trust with all of my heart and she is a person who deserves the very best life can give. My other favorite memory is when we stayed up all night (this could be every night for us) and we made a poster to go on our door. We put our name on it and quotes from all of our favorite movies. I laughed harder that night than I have in a long time! We had so much fun doing it and yes there was coloring involved.
We've done a few fun things since college like drive-in, movie, baseball game, but it's more about having her as a friend than doing things with her. I love knowing that if anything ever goes wrong, I can immediately turn to her. I know she will be there through everything. She knows a lot of my secrets and she doesn't judge or ridicule. She is very understanding and sincere. I love this girl more than words can express and I know there was a reason I was supposed to meet her. She saved me last year-she was my sole confider. She helped me turn to the Savior a lot and her testimony shines everywhere she goes. 'Dubb' wants to be an elementary school teacher and I really can't think of anything better. She leads by example, she knows how to have fun, she makes everyday a joy, she loves music (amazing pianist) and learning isn't hard around her. Talk about perfect. Thanks for everything 'Dubb', your friendship means the world to me.
Next is 'Hick'. Come on, I went to school in Ephraim-I was bound to meet a little cowgirl :) I met 'Hick' my first year at Snow and then I worked with her that summer and returned with her in the fall of this school year. Needless to say, we have spent a LOT of time together. Although I tease her about her boots, 4-wheeler, gun, and truck-we actually have a lot in common. She plays the piano just like me and she understands the impact music can have. She also loves to be outdoors and loves volleyball....Need I say more? We also both LOVE to talk and exchange stories. She is perfectly content spending time with the people she loves and she is an AMAZING chef (that part isn't like me at all!). I have found a common ground with her that is really special. She makes life fun. There were so many times when she wanted to go do something that was very new for me and I was usually pretty hesitant, but I was always glad I went in the end.
She lives life to have fun and she makes life a real joy. She dances her way through life and drags me along to do all the crazy hick things with her! I found a new perspective to life because of her. She is so easy to talk to and she never interrupts. That's my favorite thing about 'Hick'. She NEVER interrupts when you come to her apartment crying at 12:30. She drops everything, listens, hugs you, usually feeds you, and then watches a movie with you. Talk about a good friend. The other great things about 'Hick' is that she always makes time for a girls night and she never let's any excuses take away the time for one. She helped me breathe during stressful times and she was really there for me during some difficult times this year. She is a really hard worker and a true country girl at heart. She is also engaged and I am SO happy she finally found her prince-though in this case I think the term Cowboy best suits him.
'Hick' is just one of those friends that you know you will always have, she is just one that it would kill you to lose. She would help me with Math and I would write her English papers. We just help each other. She is awesome and I love her very much. There aren't enough words to say thank you to her. She knows-at least I hope-what she has done for me. I can see her being one of those friends you invite to your wedding shower, or baby shower, or Saturday brunch. I love this girl!!! Because of her I actually jumped off a cliff, went rock crawling up a mountain with some little truck, swam past the booey, learned how to drive stick, and she is the ONLY reason I learned how to make a quilt. She takes time to help and teach and she does it in a way that makes you feel just grateful to be around her. She is beautiful on the inside and out and everyone who knows her knows the difference she can make. To her I say THANK YOU :) many years to come.
The last girl I need to talk about is 'Adventure Girl' and she does just that, makes everything and everyone an adventure. She truly has a passion and energy about life that can not be leashed. She treats everyday like a giant dance party and she smiles more than ANYONE I have ever met. I knew her my first year at Snow, but my second year is when she became a part of our apartment family. She moved home second semester and so she didn't actually have an apartment of her own-but trust me it was to our advantage. She makes you laugh at yourself and has the most extreme and outrageous viewpoint to everything. There was more than one time when she and I randomly busted out into a dance party in the kitchen. Her catch phrase forever, "Let's go on an adventure."
'Adventure Girl' is truly like no one I have ever met, and it must sound like I say that a lot; but, God has just given me absolute angels for friends. She helped me through a lot personally and was also in a lot of my classes. Her laugh turns the world upside down and she spent a lot of time at our apartment, in my room, just talking to me. I think she is so naturally pretty, but also her insides are gorgeous. She truly is one of those people that just makes life fun. Her spontanaity (yikes on the spelling) and randomness makes life unpredictable. When we had to write our autobiographies for Courtship and Marriage, we tried to just sit in a room and type; but, it didn't quite work. We ended up just learning a LOT about each other...our lives...our likes...our dislikes...it was so fun.
'Adventure Girl' also likes the night life! Finally, a friend who will stay up all night long for no reason at all :) Talk about great! I loved spending nights watching movies, talking, going on random adventures, dancing, eating, ... etc. Sometimes she was exhausting to be around, because you just couldn't be around her and not live your life with pure passion and energy. We liked to go on walks and go to the park and talk. One time especially I will never forget. It was just her and I and it must have been well after midnight. We walked to the park and I was crying because I was worried about my Mom. We layed on the merry-go-round and talked and I felt a lot better. I got to see a new side to her. She was quiter, softer, gentler, and kinder. She was everything I needed in that moment.
She has a spirit that is just contagious. She is a great example and quite that catch. That girl deserves the world and I hope she won't ever settle for less than the best. She is essential to my happiness and although our lives are far apart, she will never stop being a part of my heart. She will forever be the one person who taught me that perspective can change everything. She was always thinking about other people and never put herself first. I really have changed a great deal thanks to her. I am so so grateful for a person who loved me enough to show me that the best way to be happy is to forget yourself and go to work serving others. She is an absolute joy to be around. 'Adventure Girl', there just aren't enough good things to say about you. How about ending with this....I love you. :)
